Arthritis Pain Treatment
Arthritis pain is a common disease our patients seek treatment for. It is the major cause of disability and chronic pain in Australia with 3.85million Australians affected.
Arthritis can refer to more than 100 conditions but the most common include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout and ankylosing spondylitis. Primarily an inflammatory condition arthritis can respond well to low level laser therapy (or cold laser) due to its anti-inflammatory effect. Arthritis Australia notes that there is scientific proof that laser therapy can help reduce pain and swelling particularly in the hands of people with rheumatoid arthritis.
Standard arthritis treatment may include drugs and even surgery however low level laser therapy is non-invasive and has no side-effects. Whilst arthritis is not yet curable, laser therapy can reduce arthritis pain as well as desensitise the nerve irritability and patient’s dependence on medication.
